In 2016-17 the organisation were awarded a £3,000 SHIRE Grant towards the costs of a wooden kiosk, to set up as an on-site shop on the farm premises, selling a range of produce from the farm.

The project will provide up to ten service users with a job, as two service users will be responsible for running the shop daily, five days a week.

There is no village shop in Seagrave, so this project meets a wider community need.

CECIC provides opportunities for disabled adults to increase independence, confidence and self-esteem; develop valuable work and life skills; and engage in meaningful communication with the community, through social/communication skills and development of customer service skills.

CECIC previously also received SHIRE Grant funding for a new vehicle, a hen hut, a polytunnel and other associated equipment which helps workmates to run the various enterprises they are involved in. The vehicle was used to expand CECIC's 'Helping Hands' community gardening service, which provides opportunities for 'workmates' to undertake garden maintenance work for local residents, which again helps to generate income for the participants.
